IDS, short for Institute for Security and Defense, is a vague name referring to dozens of different organizations (corporations, government agencies, underground organization, etc.). It traces its roots back to the A01 Universe, as the multinational multiservice corporation, founded by the Master, in 2005.
History[]
IDS was founded in 2005 by the Master and a handful of coworkers who worked at the same company before unexpectedly leaving. IDS was a tertiary company, proposing multiple services.
Unexpectedly, IDS grew exponentially, until successfully becoming an international company in 2007. IDS began diversifying, and secretly created a PMC, that operated in war-torn countries such as in the Middle East or Sub-Saharan Africa. The PMC IDS, was very successful, with hundreds of contracts fulfilled.
The PMC outshined the "legal" international company, and finally, the PMC was the flagship of the whole IDS conglomerate. Controversies and boycotts were started to denounce the indirect funding of mercenary operations throughout the world, but IDS was virtually everywhere, from entertainment, to farming. The boycotts proved to be ineffective against IDS, and IDS kept operating as a PMC.
The PMC had a large stockpile of weaponry, armored vehicles, aircrafts and even ballistic missiles and jet fighters, scattered across their bases, throughout the world. Hundreds of soldiers were enlisted, and military bases were opened throughout the world. One military base was exceptionally allowed to be opened in Paris, France, and was IDS's headquarters, and proved to be an angular stone for their project.
